On 18th December 2012, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) received the award of the “honorary citizenship” relating to the capacity of ensuring all institutional tasks in accordance with the high principle of global peace.Lieutenant General Giogio BATTISTI, HQ NRDC-ITA Commander, received the “honorary citizenship” plate by Solbiate Olona’s Mayor, Mr. Luigi Salvatore MELIS.
HQ priorities for 2012 were to set the conditions for a successful deployment to Afghanistan while, at the same time, the HQ was to focus on the other key objective to develop the JOINT TASK FORCE HQ capability and establish a JOINT LOGISTIC SUPPORT GROUP HQ Communications Support Element (CSE) by the end of 2014.
Lieutenant General Viktor Muzhenko, Deputy Ukraine Chief of Defence, ended his visit to Ugo Mara Barracks, home of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy on 20th November 2012.
General Muzhenko was received by the NRDC-ITA Commander, Lieutenant General Giorgio Battisti, who provided an overview on the Headquarters and future engagements.

SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 24 OCT 2012. The German Contingent of HQ NRDC-ITA played host to staff from the 230th Mountain Reconnaissance Battalion during a visit on 24 October, 2012.
The Fuessen-based Battalion, under the lead of Lieutenant Colonel Ulrich Schmidt-Narischkin, was hosted by the German Senior National Representative, Colonel Peter Uffelmann, and his team.

BUSTO ARSIZIO (VA), 29 SEPT 2012. A TEAM of NRDC-ITA sharp shooters fired their way to victory in a shooting competition in Busto Arsizio, on 29 September, 2012.
An impressive display from the shooting team saw them claim first and second place in the individual classification, and two teams in the top three overall.
Studying the past to better understand our present and improve our future. This was the goal of the staff members of NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy that from 14 to 16 September conducted a battlefield tour in the Italian region near Rimini, close to the coast with the Adriatic Sea. The battlefield tour was focused along the eastern Gothic Line where some very important WWII events took place between August and September 1944.
NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy is conducting this week exercise Eagle Focus 1 to raise situational awareness for NRDC-ITA personnel earmarked to be deployed to NATO's largest ever mission - International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) Hqs early next year.
