In the second semester of 2011, after the NRF stand-by period, NRDC-ITA HQ turned its structure from Land Component Command (LCC) to Corps: to this aim, Exercise Eagle Roster 11 was planned.
The Seminar EAGLE CARE 2011 was held from 28-29 September 2011 in Solbiate Olona (VA), Italy, with the main effort of the NRDC-ITA CSS DIV MEDICAL BRANCH and in cooperation with G4 branch.
The aim of the Seminar was to meet national medical/logistics representatives from the contributing nations to NRDC-ITA in order to discuss some aspects of the ROLE 2 medical support, regarding capabilities and logistic aspects.
NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy (NRDC-ITA), from 12th to 13th of July 2011 hosted “Eagle Mercury 2011”, a planned activity within the training cycle of the HQ for the year 2011, focused on issues related to Cyber Security and Command and Control Systems.
INSTANBUL (TURKEY), With the formal hand-over of the NRF flag held in Istanbul on 12 July 2011, Lt Gen Giorgio Battisti, Commander NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy relinquished responsibilities for the Land Component of the NATO Response Force (NRF) to Lieutenant General Hulusi Akar, Commander NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Turkey. Besides the Commander, attending the ceremony on behalf of NRDC-Italy were NRDC Italy Chief of Staff Major General Leonardo di Marco and Command Sargent Major Antonio Puglisi
NRDC-ITA’s Combat Service Support Division, G4 Branch held a logistic seminar on 4-5 July 2011 at “Ugo Mara” Barracks, Solbiate Olona, that delivered up-to date information regarding past and current NATO Logistic Doctrine and Procedures, recent developments related to Logistic Functional Area Services (LOGFAS) and a preview of the NRDC-ITA Staff deployment to ISAF in 2013.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 4 JULY 2011. The American Contingent at NRDC-ITA celebrated today their national day with Officers, Soldiers and personnel working in Ugo Mara barracks, Solbiate Olona.
In his remarks, LTC Steve Wilson, the USA Senior National Representative, highlighted the uniqueness of celebrating Independence Day among friends and colleagues from many of the nations that played pivotal roles in the formation and development of the United States of America.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 30 June 2011. A change of command ceremony was held today at Ugo Mara Barracks, Solbiate Olona when Lieutenant General Gian Marco Chiarini, Commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy (NRDC-ITA), handed over command to Lieutenant General Giorgio Battisti.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 24th June 2011. After the recent signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between NATO Rapid Deployable Corps-ITA (NRDC-ITA) and the Italian Army Post Conflict Operations Study Centre (PCOSC) the Exercise Eagle Settler 2011 was conducted in Turin as the final act of the 3rd Post Conflict Rebuilding Management Junior Course.
Solbiate Olona, 17th june 2011. Personnel of NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) in Solbiate Olona took part to the Exercise Steadfast Cobalt 2011, concluded today in The Netherlands.
The exercise was aimed at developing and verifying the status of progresses made in the field of interoperability and capacity of automated command and control systems used among NATO and allied countries.
On 15 June 2011 the UK Contingent at NRDC-ITA celebrated the official birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Ugo Mara Barracks in Solbiate Olona. The event, hosted by Major General Tom Beckett, Deputy Commander NRDC-ITA, was attended by Major General Leonardo di Marco, Chief of Staff NRDC-ITA, officers from the 15 nations contributing to NRDC-ITA and local dignitaries.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 10th June 2011. NRDC-ITA, headquartered at Ugo Mara barracks in Solbiate Olona, Italy, just completed the 5-day exercise codenamed Eagle Roster 2 (ER2). The exercise that just ended represented the second phase of the Eagle series of exercises, which started last March and will culminate in October 2011 with the exercise Eagle Roster 3, that will be conducted in an Italian major training area in Lazio region.
Solbiate Olona, 6th June 2011. NRDC-ITA signed today at Palazzo dell’Arsenale in Turin, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share its expertise in NATO doctrine and NATO-led military operations with the young officers of the school and the personnel attending the Post Conflict Operations Centre.
solbiate Olona, 30th May 11. Over 30 subject matter experts from NRDC-ITA supported a major British exercise in Sennelager, GE.
The 34 officers and NCOs from NRDC-ITA deployed for over two weeks to participate in Exercise IRON TRIANGLE 11, the major command post exercise for the UK's 3rd Division. The Exercise involved over 600 soldiers from a variety of NATO nations and was designed to test the 3rd UK Division's Headquarters in a complex warfighting and post-conflict stabilisation scenario
From 31 January to 4 February 2011 NRDC-ITA supported a seminar titled “Fire and Influence” in Cavaleri Barracks, San Giorgi a Cremano, Naples. The seminar, the first of its kind hosted by the “Acqui” Division, focused on non-lethal effects and their role in modern operations.
The official ceremony to mark HQ NRDC-ITA’s command of the NATO Response Force (NRF) took place on 12 January 2011 at Ugo Mara Barracks, Solbiate Olona.NRDC-ITA have assumed command of the NRF from the Eurocorps and will act as NATO’s high readiness force for the next six months.
