CAMERI (NO), 4th December 2009 - NRDC-ITA has just concluded the Exercise EAGLE BLADE 09, held in Cameri military airbase (Italy) from the 26th November to the 4th December 2009. The aim of the Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) Eagle Blade 2009 was to train the staff personnel for the operational planning process within a NATO-led operation into a crisis area.
General Giuseppe Valotto, The Chief of Italian Army General Staff, and Lieutenant General Armando Novelli, The Commander of Operational Land Forces, visited NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy at “Ugo Mara” Barracks in Solbiate Olona where they were received by the Commander of the Headquarters, Lieutenant General Gian Marco Chiarini.
The HQ NRDC-ITA Battlefield Tour, Exercise EAGLE TOUR was conducted in the Julian Alps (Slovenia and Northern Italy).
On the 26th of May 2009 the Italian Minister of Defense, Ignazio La Russa, visited “Ugo Mara” Barracks in Solbiate Olona, where NRDC-ITA is based.
The 25th of May 2009 viewed the handover between Major General Antonio Satta, NRDC-ITA COS for two years, and Major General Paolo Serra.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 19 May 09. The NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA), situated in Solbiate Olona within the Ugo Mara barracks and commanded by Gen. Gian Marco Chiarini, has just returned from Civitavecchia (Rome), where the HQ completed exercise EAGLE DAGGER 09.
On the 15th of June 2009 General Barney White-Spunner, Commander of the 3rd British Army Division based in Salisbury (Great Britain), visited NRDC-ITA. The British Unit is affiliated to NRDC-ITA for a possible commitment in a NATO mission.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA) 27 MARCH 2009. General Gian Marco Chiarini, Commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy (COM NRDC-ITA) stationed at Ugo Mara barracks in Solbiate Olona (Italy), has just returned from Afghanistan after a week long visit to the NRDC–ITA personnel deployed within the Headquareters of the ISAF mission (International Security Assistance Force) based in Kabul.
General Richard Shirreff, Commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) of Reindalen (Germany) has visited the equal NATO Rapid Reaction Corps in Italy (NRDC-ITA), commanded by General Gian Marco Chiarini.
SOLBIATE OLONA (VA) , 20 January 2009. After the positive experience as HQ of the mission ISAF VIII in Afghanistan, from August 2005 to May 2006, the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA) from Solbiate Olona is once again deploying staff and support personnel to the HQ of the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan for a six month period.
