Stefano Genco

Italian Army

Born in Udine, WO1 Stefano GENCO joined the Italian Army in 1996 as a conscript and was initially assigned to the 14th Alpini Regiment and later to EUROFOR in Firenze.

In 1998, he attended the 1st NCO Academy course in Viterbo, where he was awarded a Bachelor Degree in Organizational and Management Science.

Once promoted to Warrant Officer, he joined the Alpini Corps (Italian Army Mountain troops).

As WO, his assignments include Platoon leader and instructor at the 85th RAV (Volunteers Training Centre), Platoon leader at the 14th Alpini Regiment, Platoon leader at the 8th Alpini Regiment and then S2 Staff Assistant, J2 Warrant Officer at the Julia Brigade HQ, Allied Command Transformation – Staff Element Europe (ACT SEE) in SHAPE, Belgium. In this role, he was also the Senior NCO and developed strong relationships with the SACT and SHAPE CSELs.

In 2016, he was assigned to HQ NRDC-ITA in the J2 Branch, DCOS OPS outer office, and starting from 2017, in the front office of the NRDC-ITA Chief of Staff.

WO1 GENCO attended several national and NATO courses including the CSEL course at the NATO School in Oberammergau. He is also a ski and military mountain warfighting instructor.

He has deployed on a number of NATO missions to Bosnia, Afghanistan and on national homeland security operations.

WO1 GENCO enjoys skiing, running and reading books related to history.

He is married to Arianna and they have two kids Alessandro and Greta.
