GEN, Del Vecchio Leaves Italy to Assume ISAFs Command

VERONA (VR) 1st AUGUST 2005. NRDC-IT Commander left Italy from the airport of Verona Villafranca in northern Italy the 1st of August late in the night. He was leading the last echelon of the Italian led HQ to reach Afghanistan where he’ll take over the mission’s command from Gen. Erdagi, NRDC-TU Commander.

Gen. Del Vecchio boarded on a C-17 of the US Air Force transport airplanes that have been rented by NATO Joint force Command Brunssum to accomplish this task . He will land in Kabul after an eight hour flight and will be welcome by the current ISAF Commander and the part of NRDC-IT staff that is already in theatre. With his departure, NRDC-IT concludes its deployment to Afghanistan to fully operate the ISAF’s HQ in Kabul for a nine month mandate.
