SOLBIATE OLONA (VA) 18 NOV 2010. On 18 November 2010 the Italian General Staff hosted the HQ NRDC-ITA Plenary Conference 2010 at Ugo Mara Barracks, Solbiate Olona (VA). The annual conference was attended by representatives from the NRDC-ITA troop contributing nations and is the principal meeting in which changes to HQ NRDC-ITA structure and manning are recommended and authorized. The meeting was extremely successful with a number of prior recommendations, that had been tested during the 2010 training exercises, approved for permanent implementation. Other issues, such as the new NATO Strategic Concept, training priorities and forthcoming operational commitments, were also discussed.

Following the Plenary Conference there was ceremony to mark the signing of a bilateral agreement, between Italy and Hungary, for the affiliation of a Hungarian infantry battalion to NRDC-ITA. The Hungarian unit, the 1st Mechanized Battalion, 5th Infantry Brigade Bocskai Istvàn located in Debrecen, will further strengthen the ties between Hungary and NRDC-ITA. Hungary currently has 13 personnel working at NRDC-ITA. The agreement was signed by General Franco Primicerj and General Andras Szucs, respectively representing the Italian Army and Hungarian Army.
