SOLBIATE OLONA (VA), 10th June 2011. NRDC-ITA, headquartered at Ugo Mara barracks in Solbiate Olona, Italy, just completed the 5-day exercise codenamed Eagle Roster 2 (ER2). The exercise that just ended represented the second phase of the Eagle series of exercises, which started last March and will culminate in October 2011 with the exercise Eagle Roster 3, that will be conducted in an Italian major training area in Lazio region.

During the intense activities related to ER2, more than 200 staff officers were deeply focused on planning and refining shaping activities and decisive operations in a complex, hybrid environment, while testing operational capabilities to plan logistic functions which may be required in today’s theatres of operations.

Exercise Eagle Roster 2 represented a great opportunity to allow our specific working groups and subject matter experts to focus on the planning phase of a complex major operation, thus simulating a real word operational situation, said Lieutenant General Gian Marco Chiarini, NRDC-ITA Commander. It was also instrumental in identifying some real world understandings, and will pay huge dividends in view of the next deployment of the NRDC-ITA headquarters as part of International Security Assistance Force Intermediate Joint Command in 2013 in Afghanistan, concluded General Chiarini.
