On the road to Eagle Meteor

Solbiate Olona (VA), 22th Solbiate Olona (VA), 22th September 2016 – This week, at the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy Headquarters, over a hundred augmentees and officers of the subordinate unit gathered for the Academics with the international staff aimed at refining their preparation before Exercise Eagle Meteor starts.

With the participation of external instructors, many topics are under fully examination, starting from Special Forces integration up to Maritime and Air components relationship with Land Units, thus enhancing the HQ battlefield management capabilities.

NRDC-ITA is currently in its second year stand-by as NATO Joint Task Force HQ and is getting ready to undergo the validation to assume the NATO Land Component Command role in 2017.

The Land Component Command is part of the NATO Response Force (NRF) and represents the main military instrument of the Alliance for a rapid military response, either within the boundaries of the Collective Defence or the so-called Crisis Response Operations (conflict prevention and resolution, and crisis management). NRF is a standing force “to ensure that we (NATO) have the right forces, in the right place, at the right time” - Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, Brussels, 5 February 2015.
