International Day 2018

On 19 th May the annual International Day - a day for Charity - took place for the first time at the Milano Innovation District (MIND).

The event was both an opportunity for fun and socialising with families, but also served to raise money for worthy charities.

The day was a celebration of the 15 different nations that work together in the NRDC-ITA. It was an opportunity also to invite local institutions, associations and notable organisations, which have a relationship with the headquarters. Over 2,000 soldiers serving in the Ugo Mara Barracks and their loved ones took this chance to enjoy each other’s company outside of

work and express their solidarity for those less fortunate.

In addition to building on the community of NRDC-ITA, the International Day also raised money for the worthy charity AIAS Busto Arsizio ONLUS “A. Tosi”. This was made possible with the help of over 50 generous sponsors, the multinational staff and the other attending guests. AIAS is a Neurological and Psychiatric rehabilitation centre for children. It has been operating since 1966 with the aim of improving the quality of life for disabled children and their affected families, through multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs.

In order to celebrate this special day, two limited edition commemorative postcards were issued, along with a dedicated special postmark. This was made possible due to collaboration with Poste Italiane, the national Postal Service.

The International Day is the day we celebrate the multinational soul of our Headquarters – as it is the diversity that makes us stronger - and it represents a way to thank local institutions and communities for their support to our servicemen and women.
