Successful mutual training between sibling HQs in ARRCADE Fusion 19

“HQs who engage in mutual training are more effective, efficient and resilient and this enhances interoperability.”

After more than two weeks of intense training, Exercise ARRCADE Fusion 19 has concluded. More than 1800 soldiers from multiple NATO and Partner Nations deployed to Cornwall, UK, from 10 to 26 November.

The aim was to demonstrate HQ ARRC’s (Allied Rapid Reaction Corps) initial operating capability as a warfighting Corps HQ and to exercise the Command and Control of multinational forces across a framework of operations, in doing so, showcasing NATO’s flexibility in the face of emerging threats.

Supporting this effort, the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy (NRDC-ITA), deployed a significant number of personnel to create a virtual higher and adjacent command for ARRC. The Multi-Corps Land Component Command (MC-LCC), a role NRDC-ITA is scheduled to perform for NATO in the near future, as well as a High Readiness Force-Land (HRFL) Corps provided ARRC an exercise environment to achieve its training objectives.

The execution of this exercise was a success for the Milan based HQ. It enhances its reputation as an adaptive organization within the NATO Force Structure and demonstrates its ability to actively support sister HQs by sharing valuable expertise gained by recent NRDC-ITA training.

Exercise ARRCADE Fusion, and the significant mutual training benefit gained, strengthens the already strong bonds between ARRC and NRDC-ITA. Two headquarters with similar roles, helping each other improve and develop, for the benefit of NATO.

NRDC-ITA is committed to the concept that mutual training contributes to increased interoperability. It is proud to contribute in this respect to the Alliance for a safe and stable global security environment.
