NRDC-ITA hosted an informative lecture on Multipolarism and shifting alliances in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region

Wed 26 Feb 2020 – Milan. Mr. Cyril Widdershoven, Founder and Sr. Advisor Geopolitics & Country Risk of Verocy (www.verocy.com) presented a lecture to key NRDC-ITA elements, titled “Multipolarism and shifting alliances, MENA’s future going East?”.

Verocy is a consultancy company that provides strategic foresights and development gateways for international investments, new business and value management of assets and resources in MENA.

In his speech, Mr. Widdershoven, as a veteran global energy market expert, highlighted the importance of the strategic’ MENA region that maintains important connections with the entire world.

Furthermore, he stressed the impact of the conflicts and operations that previously occurred and those that are ongoing in the region, as well as the fragile power balance. Additionally he mentioned the weight of historical rivalry, the partnership both economic and military, the major potential security and instability concerns.

The event was an exceptional opportunity for the NRDC-ITA community that has followed the lecture through the Lync System to acquire knowledge on the dynamic, complex, politically challenging MENA countries by studying and assessing possible policy response frameworks to support security and stability solutions.

Building cooperation with stakeholders and increasing readiness capabilities are the key principles for NRDC-ITA. It continues its strong contribution to the Alliance by conducting threat analysis and situational monitoring of areas of instability, such as of crisis hotspots on the Alliance’s southern border and within MENA region.
