NATO Defence Counsellors visit to NRDC-ITA

NRDC-ITA hosts a NATO Defence Counsellors delegation

Solbiate Olona, October 24, 2023.Today, the NRDC-ITA hosted a visit by the NATO Defence Counsellors delegation coming to Italy to carry out a series of institutional activities with international organizations.

Lieutenant General Lorenzo D’Addario welcomed Assistant Secretary General (ASG) Angus Lapsey and the permanent representatives of the countries at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels to share experiences and outline possible areas of convergence. They paid particular attention to the future challenges of NATO in order to strengthen NRDC-ITA's upcoming role as the Allied Reaction Force HQ to support the Alliance and international stability, in line with NATO's three core tasks: deterrence and defence, crisis prevention and management, and cooperative security.

ASG Angus Lapsey and the NATO Defence Counsellors delegation, in their meetings with the NRDC-ITA Commander, Major General Bennet, Deputy Commander of NRDC-ITA, and Major General Terzano, Chief of Staff of NRDC-ITA, received a briefing on NRDC-ITA's new commitment within the Alliance and for the defence of the Euro-Atlantic area. This commitment will culminate, after a long series of events, in the exercise Steadfast Deterrence 24 for the ARF HQ certification starting from July 1, 2024.

During the visit, the NATO delegation also met with senior representatives from the 20 nations contributing to the Solbiate Olona Headquarters.
