The Lithuanian diplomatic representative in Italy visited NRDC-ITA today

Solbiate Olona, March 05, 2024. The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Italy, H.E. Dalia KREIVIENĖ, visited the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) Headquarters in Solbiate Olona (VA) today.

Upon being welcomed by the Commander, Lieutenant General Lorenzo D'Addario, and after meeting with representatives from nations contributing to the NATO Command, the Ambassador attended a briefing where the tasks, structure, and capabilities of NRDC-ITA were presented. The focus was on NRDC-ITA's role as the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Headquarters in support of the Alliance's three main tasks: deterrence and defence, crisis prevention and management, and cooperative security.

In particular, NRDC-ITA, in accordance with the new strategic concept of NATO, is planning and conducting a long series of activities. These include military exercises, academic studies, staff training, and will culminate in the Steadfast Deterrence 24 exercise in few weeks. During this exercise, NRDC-ITA is expected to receive validation as the ARF Command before assuming its role in July 2024.

In her speech, the Ambassador has provided an interesting insight on the Lithuanian approach about some topics like the European security architecture, the next NATO summit in Washington and the incoming electoral cycle in many Nations. The visit continued with her participation in the national day of Republic of Lithuania. This represented a significant moment to highlight the joint efforts in support of the Alliance within an organization of 31 member states sharing the same values.
