As part of essential preparations for the upcoming Exercise Eagle Meteor, over 70 military leaders from across the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy, affiliated, and subordinate units attended KLT at Ugo Mara Barracks for a two-day training focused on the decision making process and Leadership.

Over 200 military personnel traveled to Ugo Mara Barracks to attend Battle Staff Training (BST). This round of BST provided the opportunity for essential augmentees, liaison officers and enablers to fine-tune tactics, techniques and procedures to prepare for the execution phase of the keystone exercise that starts next and occurs in multiple locations in Italy.

Aimed at developing the HQ NRDC-ITA’s ability to synchronize and conduct a complex collective article 5 defensive operation, Eagle Meteor involves simulated high intensity warfare against a near peer adversary in a contemporary operating environment. About 1800 personnel from 18 NATO armed forces have deployed across 7 different locations in Italy, from Lombardy to Sicily, to reaffirm the Corps HQ capabilities in managing crisis situations, restoring security and working for the Alliance.

Today, the NRDC-ITA Commander General, Lt. Gen. Roberto Perretti, arrived at the HQ's Forward Command Element, currently deployed in Sicily.

It was also an opportunity for the Italian General to meet local Army and Gendarmerie authorities and to emphasise the importance of cooperation in this key area for the Alliance, on NATO’s “Southern Flank”.

NRDC-ITA personnel have successfully concluded Exercise Eagle Meteor 19, our most important Command Post Exercise of the year.
